Millonarios Orlando knew that getting to the pitch on time wouldn’t be the only issue they would face on an early sunday morning as they were set to face off against the leagues 2nd place contender Union Park FC. With a hand full of the Millos players strolling in the park within minutes of kickoff; others quickly putting on their respective jerseys and shoving their shinguards into their socks just as the referee was attempting to check them in were only obvious signs to what kind of performance Millonarios Orlando was due to display. Millos starting the game in their normal 4-4-2 formation with Sam Luedke between the pipes, forming the backline was Nick hall and Phillip Katz supported by Lee Speight and Juan Pablo Londono. The midfield was lead by Philip Hall and Christian Bustamante centrally flanked by Luciano Mendieta and Brian Phillips. The front line was lead by Diego Cordeiro and Addison.

Despite the lack of preparation and discipline Millos showed previous to kickoff, they manage to gain possession of the ball throughout the first 10 minutes of the game. With a combination of effortless passes and poor ball control from Millos players, it made it very easy for the opposition to put pressure on the Millos backline and battle for possession of the ball throughout the majority the first half. With that said, Millonarios Orlando was able to create some open opportunities for themselves. In the 25th minute Jimmy Montes was able to shake off a couple of defenders with some smooth footwork and put a perfect cross in the air towards Hector Espitia who was attempting to lose his defender with a sprint towards goal. Hectors through run managed to drag the defender and keeper out as the ball floated well over theirs heads and ended at the feet of a wide open Brian Phillips who had an open net within 10 yards in front of him but was unable to finish as his shot went just wide of the goal. Millos continued to put a lot of pressure on Union Park’s backline but was unable to break the tie after multiple shots and vital saves by the keeper.  This sent a very frustrated Millos side into halftime with a 0-0 draw.

The first 20 minutes of the second half consisted of very sloppy football displayed by the two top teams in the league. Although playing very poor, Millos were still able to find multiple holes in the opponents backline but lacked the final touch to break the tie. Diego Cordeiro was able to get multiple looks at goal throughout the whole game but failed to get the ball passed the keeper. Millos got their first break of the game in the 60th minute after a very shocking call by the referee that awarded Millos a pk. Philip Hall made no mistake and placed the ball into the back of the net, earning his 3rd pk goal of the season and putting Millonarios Orlando in a great position to win the match. This goal seemed to oddly motivate and inspire the opposition to push for the tie more then ever. The equalizer came quick for Union Park as Millos lacked to get organized off a free kick from the opposition which resulted in a player completely open in front of goal who nailed a header into the side netting giving Sam Luedke no chance of making a save.

Overall, it was a very poor performance for Millonarios Orlando. They must regroup quickly and find their rhythm and some confidence going into the playoffs. With this tie, Millos will still hold on the top spot on the league table but isn’t promised the gold hardware yet as they will end the regular season with 2 very tough matches against 2 very competitive teams.
