There is not much to be said about the dreadful display of soccer put on by Millonarios Orlando in their third match of the season. Last week Millos battled through a very physical contest with only eleven players, this week a few key absences would once again be a problem. This week Millos faced Dream Team for the first time ever. Keeper Sam Luedke was unable to provide his valuable services once again. Filling in between the posts for the first time was Ben Beasley. Starting in defense was Danny Concepcion and Phillip Katz joined by Pablo Diaz and Juan Pablo Londono. The midfield was controlled by Christian Bustamante and Philip Hall. Luciano Mendieta and Jimmy Montes started at right and left midfield respectively. Diego Cordeiro and Hector Espitia started up front to round out the familiar 4-4-2 for Millos. Among the key players missing were Taylor Moore, Brian Phillips, and Sam Luedke. Dream Team got the first goal after some horrific defending and the striker caught the keeper out of position for an easy goal to make it 0-1. Millos didn’t take long to respond however, Diego Cordeiro got off a shot that the keeper couldn’t handle which left Hector Espitia an easy score off the rebound. 1-1. Dream Team found another opening though less than 5 minutes after the equalizer. Some sloppy defending once again left Ben Beasley alone with the striker who made it 1-2 in favor of Dream Team. Late arrivals Nick Hall and Lee Speight came on to shore up the Millos back third. Speight replaced Beasley in goal and Hall joined Kats in central defense. The remainder of the first half saw only more dismal play from Millos and it ended 1-2 in favor of Dream Team. The second half was not much better for Millonarios Orlando but they were determined to pull out a victory. Substitute Rossell Duran received a pass into the box from Jimmy Montes and Duran shot a low drive to the keeper’s right to make it 2-2. With around ten minutes remaining in the fixture Millos finally got the lead. The ball was bouncing around at the top of the box when Diego Cordeiro brought it under control. He turned a defender to his right and flicked the ball over another defender then hit a clinical left foot volley into the back of the net to make it 3-2 in favor of Millonarios Orlando. Dream Team had one last chance to equalize off a free kick. Lee Speight did very well to keep the shot out of the Millos net and secure victory. The final score was 3-2, Millos claimed their third straight win to start the season in very unconvincing fashion. It’s clear that Millos will need to regroup after this poor performance and will need all of their players to be more committed if they want to earn another championship. |
