Starting Lineup Sam Luedke Substitute Msellem Ahmed
Match Summary |
Millonarios Orlando secured a huge victory against The Spartans in their first ever night match on Tuesday. On Sunday they faced another opponent for the first time going up against RC Tax United. Leading Millos from the back was goalkeeper Sam Luedke. In the back-line was Phillip Kats and Nick Hall supported by Pablo Diaz and Lee Speight. The midfield was secured by Christian Bustamante and Philip Hall centrally who were flanked by Luciano Mendieta and Brian Phillips on the wings. Leading the attack for Millos was Diego Cordeiro and Taylor Moore. From the early going Millos easily took possession and maintained it. Throughout most of the contest RC Tax United played an awful brand of soccer filled with horrendous tackles that led to several yellow cards. After several minutes Millos took the early lead from a free kick awarded for one of those tackles. Christian Bustamante stepped up to take the kick that was about 25 yards out, and curled it over the wall to try beat the keeper on his near post. The keeper covered well but was unable to handle the pace of Busty’s shot. Philip Hall had the presence of mind to follow up the free kick and when it fell to his feet he easily buried it in the back of the net. 1-0 Millos. The second goal also came from a free kick as a result of another terrible challenge on a Millos player. This time Diego Cordeiro lined up to test the keeper, again from around 25 yards out. With his right foot he took a perfectly curved shot around the wall and into the upper far corner of the goal. The goalkeeper had no chance of stopping this one and Millos went up 2-0. Millonarios continued to dominate the pitch throughout the first half but gave up a couple cheap goals after some defensive errors. An air ball was placed into a dangerous area and Lee Speight got inaccurate advice from the bench. Thinking he had time to bring the ball down to his feet, he did just that only to be dispossessed. The attacking player broke towards goal and put a cross into the middle which keeper Same Luedke got a glove to. Unfortunately it fell to an open player who volleyed it in from inside the six-yard box. Millos got a quick reply however from another free kick similar to the first. Philip Hall stepped up confidently and ripped a low drive to the far post beating the outstretched arms of the keeper. 3-1 Millos. The next goal was a bit of a gift for the boys in blue as a RC Tax player deflected a corner kick into his own goal. Most of the work was done by Phillip Kats however as he pressured the defender into making the mistake. Unfortunately Millos gave up one more before the break due to some very poor marking in the area. Off of a corner kick Nick Hall attempted to clear at the near post but it went just over his head. An RC Tax player controlled the ball and took a shot on goal that came off the crossbar and fell to another player standing a yard from goal who easily scored. Score at half time was 4-2 in favor of Millonarios. Millos carried their dominance into the second half but were unable to stretch the lead until late in the game. Wingers Luciano Mendieta, Brian Phillips, and Jimmy Montes all had strong performances and created many chances. Millos had one more slip up after a fast break and a long ball over the top. Sweeper Nick Hall closed down the attacker at the top of the box but he laid off a pass to his wide-open counterpart who hit a beautiful shot into the far upper corner that beat Millos keeper Sam Luedke. 4-3 Millos. RC Tax United seemed to either not care about getting yellow cards or just figured since they couldn’t beat Millos they would try injure them. By the end of the game they earned seven yellow cards and two red cards leaving them with only nine players. Late in the match Millonarios secured the win from the penalty spot. Christian Bustamante beat several defenders before he was finally taken down in the box. Philip Hall stepped up to the spot to complete his hat trick and put RC Tax out of their misery. He sent the keeper the wrong way and gave Millos the 5-3 lead. Man of the Match was clearly Philip Hall for his 3 crucial goals and his dominating presence in the midfield. Millonarios Orlando survived the horrific tackling and improved their record to 6-0 on their way to a third straight championship!
